HADDON, N.J. (AP) - A man who had raised concerns by walking around a southern New Jersey town dressed as “The Joker” while clad in the movie character’s makeup is now accused of “menacingly waving” a pocketknife at some teenagers as he drove past the group, authorities said.

Assoumou Diby, 25, of Haddon Township, was arrested on a weapons charge shortly after the incident occurred Tuesday. It wasn’t known Thursday if he has retained an attorney.

Camden County prosecutors said several people had contacted Haddon police about the man, but authorities said he was not breaking any laws just by being dressed as the character.

A telephone number for Diby could not be located Thursday. He is due to make his initial appearance in municipal court next month.
