ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - A veteran Vermont police officer is going to become the next chief in the town of Essex.

Town officials announced this week the promotion of Capt. Ron Hoague, who has 29 years of experience in law enforcement.

Hoague started his police career in 1991 and moved to Essex in 1993 where he worked for nine years before moving to Florida.
