JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A child died following a shooting on Monday night at a home in Jacksonville, police said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office told news outlets that the shooting appeared to be accidental.

Officials didn’t release the child’s name or gender, but family members told WJXT that the victim was a 2-year-old boy.

Emergency responders took the child to a hospital, where he died.

Another child was in the home when the shooting occurred, and there were adults inside and outside of the house at the time, sheriff’s officials said. They were questioning everyone at the home.

An investigation is continuing.
