Everyone agrees that the police officer who kept pressure on the neck of the handcuffed George Floyd committed murder. Unfortunately, the new normal is to blame all police officers for the actions of one bad apple. That defies logic.

One can understand peaceful protests in response to this and other, similar episodes. Such protests can facilitate the review and amendment of current procedures. The sad part is the lack of attention paid to the spouses, children, parents and cousins of innocent black, Hispanic, white and Asian men and women police officers who will forever mourn their loved ones, who were killed in response to activists calling for the killing of cops. Where are the protests to these terrible acts?

Many of these police officers were killed by black individuals, yet by no means should anyone blame all black people for these deaths. The same standard of equal justice for all must be applied, and only those who did the killings should be tried and punished. The families of these innocent police officers deserve our condolences and support.

It is time to speak out for the vast majority of the men and women in blue who risk their lives every day to protect people and property. Activists calling for killings are the ones who need to be silenced.
