SAN DIEGO (AP) - Police on Thursday shot and killed a man they say pointed a gun at officers near a high school.

A report of a person with a gun sent officers went to the Talmadge neighborhood shortly before 4 p.m., police said.

They spotted the man about a block from Herbert Hoover High School but when they tried to make contract he pointed a gun at them, police said.



Several officers opened fire. The man died at the scene.

His name wasn’t immediately released.
