YORK, Maine (AP) - A scuba diver’s body was pulled from the water near Nubble Light in York on Tuesday, a day after another diver had to be rescued, officials said.

The diver’s body was recovered about an hour after a report at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday of a diver who had not resurfaced, officials said. The victim was not immediately identified.

The Coast Guard sent a helicopter from Cape Cod and a vessel from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, to help with the search. The Maine Marine Patrol was also involved.

Police said currents have been strong in that area, and a diver had to be rescued on Monday.
