PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - The homeowner died and a firefighter was injured in a house fire in Pittsfield on Monday night, authorities said Tuesday.

Frances Lysonski, 74, was rescued from the home by firefighters and was brought to Berkshire Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, according to the office of Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington.

A Pittsfield firefighter was also injured falling off a ladder. He was treated at the hospital and released. No name was disclosed.



The fire reported at about 10 p.m. Monday apparently started on the first floor and the homeowner was found on the second floor, according to the district attorney’s office.

The fire is considered accidental but remains under investigation.
