ALPINE, N.J. (AP) - A Brooklyn man who apparently got out of his minivan because he thought he had hit an animal was struck and killed by a car on a parkway linking New York and New Jersey, police said.
The 41-year-old man was hit Thursday on the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, New Jersey, just before the New York state line.
The man, whose name wasn’t released, had no vital signs when officers arrived, police said. He was pronounced dead at Nyack Hospital. No charges have been filed.
Another man was struck and killed by a car Friday night on a different part of the Palisades, about 20 miles north in Pomona, New York.
Police said 47-year-old Genoval Gonzalez Quintana was hit while walking in the southbound lanes of the parkway around 11:15 p.m. Friday.
The driver of the vehicle was returning home from work and was not intoxicated nor using a cellphone, police said. No charges have been filed.
