LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas authorities say a man who offered a homeless person money to do a backflip, which ended in fatal injuries, has a history of posting similar encounters on social media.
Keonte Jones, who remains out on bail, was charged with willful disregard of a person’s safety after filming 55-year-old Larry Coner last month attempting to perform a backflip. Coner landed on his neck.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reported Wednesday that the victim’s sister said the 28-year-old Jones is known to bribe homeless people to do stunts for Facebook Live videos.
Jones offered Coner $6 to do a backflip, authorities said. He streamed the encounter on Facebook Live for about 10 minutes. The video shows Jones laughing and telling others around not to call for help as Coner can be seen landing on his neck and not getting up, police said.
Coner was taken to University Medical Center and died June 30.
Jones is expected to appear in court Sept. 14. Online court records don’t list an attorney for Jones who could comment on his behalf.
He was previously convicted in 2008 of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
