EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - A Washington state man was accused of stabbing his girlfriend seven times and trapping her in a car for hours as she bled before dropping her off at a hospital.

The man was charged in Snohomish County Superior Court July 1 with first-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment and violation of a protection order, The Everett Herald reported Saturday.

The woman reported she was attacked by her 64-year-old boyfriend outside his house in Marysville June 14.

The Herald did not identify the suspect to avoid potentially identifying the victim.

The Edmonds Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing victim at the Swedish Health Services Edmonds campus.

Records indicate she was stabbed in the cheek, chest, arm, hand, and ear. A doctor who treated the woman’s wounds said one of her lungs likely had been punctured.

The landlord later told police he saw the suspect on top of the woman in a car outside the home.

Lynnwood police found the suspect in the lobby of a hotel around 4:50 a.m. with blood on his shirt, undershirt and hands. He claimed the couple got into a fight over drugs.
