OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A sixth-grade teacher at an Omaha elementary school accused of recording an underage girl as she showered and dressed has been arrested on suspicion of having and manufacturing child pornography, as well as unlawful intrusion.
The 42-year-old man, who taught at Westgate Elementary School, was arrested Tuesday after a protection order was granted to a woman who said she found videos of the girl on his cellphone, the the Omaha World-Herald reported. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave, but formal charges did not appear in online court records by Wednesday afternoon.
“The safety and well being of our students is our top priority, and we are working to ensure all of our learners are supported,” an email from the Westside School District sent to parents Tuesday said. “We will have counselors on hand at Westgate for any students who want to talk about this, and we are reminding our teachers about ways they can appropriately answer questions that may surface in our school.”
