WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) - One person died in a fiery crash involving two tractor-trailers on a Connecticut highway early Tuesday, state police said.
The crash on Interstate 91 south in Windsor was reported just before 1 a.m.
One of the trucks was parked on the right shoulder and was struck by the second truck when it left the travel lanes, state police said.
The driver of the second truck died. State police said they are still trying to establish the driver’s identity.
The driver of the parked truck, a New Britain man, was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The southbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours, but two lanes have since reopened.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also responded to the scene to remove spilled diesel fuel and firefighting foam from the area.
The cause is under investigation.
