One teenager was killed and two others were hurt in a triple stabbing in Boston that started as an altercation between two groups of youths, police said.

Yonan Guerrero, 16, was taken to the hospital in critical condition after the altercation in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood just before 5 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said in a Facebook post on Sunday that Guerrero later died.

Two other boys, ages 13 and 16, suffered injuries not considered life threatening.

About 10 to 12 teens were involved, Commissioner William Gross said at the scene.

Gross credited the quick action of multiple witnesses who called police to report the stabbings.

Police are looking at surveillance videos from nearby homes and businesses. It is not known if any of the teens are involved in gangs, Gross said.

The stabbings remain under investigation. No arrests were announced.
