Two people were killed when a small plane crashed Saturday in Coweta County, authorities said.

News outlets report that the accident occurred Saturday near Senoia. Coweta County Sheriff Len Wood told WSB-TV that the plane had just taken off from a nearby private air strip after picking up a passenger.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the plane was an experimental Mustang-II. The plane had crashed into the trees near a highway.

Authorities did not identify the pilot or passenger.
