LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Zoo has a new baby gorilla, officials announced Sunday.
N’djia, a 25-year-old western lowland gorilla, gave birth Saturday, the zoo said in a statement. Mother and newborn are doing well.
“For the first time in over two decades, Angelenos will have a unique opportunity to watch a gorilla baby grow up at the L.A. Zoo,” said Denise M. Verret, the zoo’s director.
For now N’djia is bonding with her infant behind the scenes. Visitors could be able to glimpse the baby as it explores the zoo’s Campo Gorilla Reserve in the coming days, the statement said.
