WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A man suffered critical injuries Saturday in a Wichita house fire, officials there said.
The fire was reported around noon Saturday in the southwestern part of the city, television station KAKE reported. Arriving firefighters found the home and a car engulfed in flames, and crews soon found a man who had suffered burns and pulled him from the flames. The man was taken to a Wichita hospital in critical condition, officials said.
It took firefighters longer than expected to get the blaze under control, but officials don’t think Saturday’s wintry weather played a part.
“It probably slowed crews down a little bit, but roads were real well on my way down,” Wichita Fire Battalion Chief Jason Jones said.
Investigators are trying to find out what caused the fire.
