BELLE PLAINE, Kan. (AP) - A Hutchinson man has been killed in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike in south-central Kansas, authorities there said.
The Kansas Turnpike Authority reported the crash happened Friday afternoon, when a southbound car driven by Gilberto Benitez-Garcia, 58, went of the road near Belle Plaine. The crashed was reported around 12:30 p.m. Friday, radio station KFDI reported.
Investigators said Benitez-Garcia’s car traveled 900 feet (274.32 meters) after leaving the turnpike and hit a tree. Benitez-Garcia, who was the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
