LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) - A teenage boy was killed when his dirt bike crashed into a canal at a state park in Mercer County, authorities said.
The 14-year-old was riding with a group of friends in Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park in Lawrenceville when he lost control of his bike and veered into the water on Tuesday, authorities said. A passerby stopped to assist the boy, who suffered a head injury.
The boy was flown to a hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not been released.
Áuthorities said grief counselors would be available Wednesday at the Lawrenceville Middle School, where the boy was an eighth-grade student.
