WELLINGTON, Kan. (AP) - A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Tuesday while walking along a highway in Sumner County, authorities said.
The accident was reported at 6:20 a.m. on US-160 Highway, about 2 miles east of Wellington, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. The Kansas Turnpike is about a half-mile east of that location.
A 1993 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling eastbound on US-160 when it struck Joseph Edward Franklin Darling, 48, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
