BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee school district was closed Tuesday as numerous illnesses were reported among staff, students, administrators and bus drivers, according to a statement from the school system.
Sullivan County Schools in Blountville chose to close as high illness rates affected the district and other systems across the region, The Bristol Herald-Courier reported. A district in nearby Bristol, Virginia, also closed schools late last month for a deep cleaning of facilities after flu, strep and colds affected large numbers of students and staff, according to a district statement at the time.
Sullivan County Schools didn’t specify whether a particular illness, such as the flu, was thought to be spreading.
