After decades as an instructor for college STEM courses, I am beyond despair over the potential of college students, supposedly our best and brightest, to continue defending and building upon the oldest democracy on Earth: America.

Our government arose from the Founding Fathers’ words, which declare “that all men are created equal Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

In my opinion, those two simple phrases are among the greatest in all history pointing toward nature’s potential gift in each individual. They are waypoints to a peaceful tomorrow. The greatest sin humanity can commit is to fail to nurture seeds of greatness in youth and fail to follow nature’s signposts to a better tomorrow.
