AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - A propane delivery driver in Maine brushed off and secured an American flag that had been knocked off a veteran’s home, the veteran told news outlets.

David Price told news outlets that he was upset when he saw via home security cameras connected to a phone app that his U.S. flag had fallen to the ground. He told WCSH-TV that he thought about it for hours and noted that the flag had fallen on Wednesday, the 75th Anniversary of the battle of Iwo Jima. He said he was a little tempted to ask his boss if he could leave work - more than an hour’s drive from his home - to secure it.

But then Price got a motion alert on his phone from the camera and watched as a driver with Dead River, a company that provides heating and propane oil, arrived, brushed snow off the flag, secured it back in the post and returned to work making the propane delivery.

Price, who was a Marine and served in the Gulf War, said that he shared the video with Dead River and that the president called him back to thank him.

Price called it “a great act of kindness and respect.”

“A big thank you to the Dead River driver who found my flag had blown down and took the time to pick it up, clean it up and put it back in it’s mount,” Price wrote on Facebook.
