ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia authorities have identified the two people killed in a fiery road crash as the drivers of a Volkswagen Passat and a tank truck that was hauling thousands of gallons (liters) of fuel.

Emerald Lynn, 31, of Norcross had just stopped her car on Interstate 85 after being involved in an earlier accident Saturday and Yonas Worku, 44, of Snellville was unable to stop his Freightliner in time to avoid hitting the car, Gwinnett County police said.

The truck, carrying 7,500 gallons (28,400 liters) of gasoline and another 1,000 gallons (3,800 liters) of diesel fuel, overturned and exploded, news outlets report.

Northbound lanes of the highway, a vital artery through Georgia, were closed for 10 hours.
