WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - State burglary and theft-related charges have been dropped against a northeastern Pennsylvania man awaiting sentencing on federal convictions of threatening President Donald Trump and a Pennsylvania district attorney.

The (Wilkes-Barre) Citizens’ Voice reports that Luzerne County prosecutors said in a motion filed in court that 28-year-old Shawn Christy had already been convicted in federal court “on charges arising out of his conduct related” to the state case. The motion said the defendant’s uncle did not oppose dropping the charges.

In November, a federal jury convicted Christy on a dozen counts of threatening the president, making threatening communications and taking stolen firearms and vehicles across state lines. A sentencing date hasn’t been set.

Christy had been facing charges that he broke into his uncle’s Butler Towship home in July 2018 while on the run from federal marshals. Authorities alleged online threats in June 2018 to “put a bullet” in Trump and Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli as well as “lethal force” against police.

The Maple Shade, New Jersey native testified that someone else wrote that, but jurors were told to disregard his testimony after he refused to answer questions from the prosecutor.
