REVERE, Mass. (AP) - One person died and two others were injured early Tuesday in a fire at a multifamily home in Revere, officials said.
The fire was reported at about 2:30 a.m.
“We arrived and there was heavy fire on the second floor and extended to the third. We had a report of three people trapped, initially. One person had actually jumped out the window and sustained injuries,” Deputy Fire Chief Glen Rich said.
The man who died was inside a room where the fire likely started.
“Every item within the room had been on fire. So we believe the person may have been deceased prior to our arrival,” Rich said.
Two people, including one who jumped from a second-floor window, were taken to the hospital. One witness described the person who jumped as a young girl.
No names were released.
The cause remains under investigation with help from the state Fire Marshal’s office. The Red Cross is aiding displaced residents.
