BETHESDA, Md. (AP) - Police detectives in Maryland are trying to determine how a 2-year-old boy was shot and wounded inside a home over the weekend, and whether it was an accident or a crime.
Montgomery County Police said the boy was shot at a home on Brassie Place in Montgomery Village shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, news outlets reported. Police said a family member called 911 to report the incident while driving the boy to a hospital.
The boy, who did not live in the home, was wounded in a lower extremity. The child’s identity hasn’t been released, nor have the identities of anyone inside the home at the time of the shooting.
Detectives have interviewed multiple witnesses, including the boy’s family members. Officials from Child Protective Services were also notified, police said.
