As the holiday season approaches, so does the season of giving.

That might explain what happened early in Sunday’s game between the Vikings and Jaguars — Minnesota cornerback Kris Boyd was just feeling generous.

Or, Boyd is just really unlucky.

Jacksonville quarterback Mike Glennon rolled to his left, then set his feet and fired a throw right to Boyd. That pass could have — perhaps should have — resulted in an interception. Instead, the deflection flew right past safety Harrison Smith and found Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr. for a 28-yard touchdown reception, putting Jacksonville on the board first.

Boyd hasn’t had the best go of things lately. On Nov. 22, Boyd had penalties on back-to-back special teams plays late in that 31-28 Dallas win, one of which negated a well-executed fake punt from the Vikings. Boyd also dropped a would-be interception late, which allotted the Cowboys the opportunity to score two plays later.
