EL RENO, Okla. (AP) - A woman has been charged with four counts of second-degree murder for a wrong-way crash that killed a family of four in October in central Oklahoma.

Charges were filed Thursday against 33-year-old Ashley Louise Ricks, of Moore, according to court records.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol alleges that Ricks was going the wrong way on Interstate 40 near El Reno at about 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 when she slammed head on into a vehicle with three adults and a girl.

The car that Ricks is accused of hitting went into the center median and burst into flames as the four people within were trapped inside.

Ricks was hospitalized after the collision.

Ricks was being held on Friday in the Canadian County Jail. Court records did not list an attorney for Ricks.

A court hearing in her case was scheduled for Jan. 4.
