LINCOLN, Neb . (AP) - A Lincoln police officer and Nebraska state trooper were injured Thursday when a suspect rammed a cruiser while trying to flee, Lincoln police said.

Lincoln Officer Erin Spilker said police received reports early Thursday of a man acting erratically at several convenience stores. The officer and trooper caught up with the suspect, 29-year-old Connor Sweeney, at a U-Stop, and tried to block in Sweeney’s car.

As they approached Sweeney, he got in his car and rammed the cruiser several times, pinning both officers in the open door frame and injuring them, Spilker said. They were taken to a hospital to be treated. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Another trooper eventually stopped Sweeney’s car. He was arrested on suspicion of two counts of of felony assault on an officer, The Lincoln Journal-Star reported.
