BALTIMORE (AP) - The death toll among people who’ve had the coronavirus is continuing to rise in Maryland.

The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that the state reported 63 fatalities that are tied to COVID-19.

That means that Maryland has now recorded 1,150 deaths in the month of December. It’s also the most deaths in any month except May.



The state is now reporting a total of 5,636 deaths since March. There have been 271,061 confirmed cases.

The state said that 1,725 people are hospitalized. And there are 420 who required intensive care.

The nation passed 19 million coronavirus cases over the weekend.
