CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - A crash involving five vehicles on the Garden State Parkway in northern New Jersey left two people dead and four others injured, state police said.
The crash in Clifton occurred around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, when a southbound vehicle driven by Sandra Vanderslice, 59, of Philadelphia, overturned and went into the northbound lanes, said Sgt. Lawrence Peele, a state police spokesman. The vehicle then collided with four northbound vehicles.
A passenger in one of the northbound vehicles - Maxim Viscio, 29, of Jersey City - and Vanderslice were both killed, while the driver of the vehicle Viscio was riding in was seriously injured, Peele said. Three people in another vehicle had moderate injuries.
Authorities have not said what caused Vanderslice to lose control of her vehicle.
