Since 1776, the United States has done more to promote liberty and provide opportunity than any nation on Earth. Millions have come seeking the American dream — and millions have achieved it.

While our nation has never been perfect, it has spent the past 250 years continually improving. The signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, made us the first nation to assert the right of the people to choose their own government, and it declared that people had unalienable rights to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” In 1865, Gen. Lee surrendered to Gen. Grant at Appomattox, ending the Civil War and slavery. In 1920, Congress passed the 19th Amendment, which granted voting rights to women. In 1964, it passed the Civil Rights Act, which outlawed discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. While many claim systemic racism in the United States, the two-time election of a biracial president, the fact that 60 African-Americans serve in Congress and the recent election of a woman of color as vice president do much to dispute this claim.

Now, after almost 250 years of progress, our nation must rely on the residents of Georgia for survival. If Democrats win the two Georgia Senate seats they will have total control of the executive and legislative branches of government, and we can expect packing of the U.S. Supreme Court with liberal activist judges; statehood for Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico; the elimination of the filibuster in the Senate; higher taxes for all; amnesty for 11 million to 20 million illegals; free health care for illegals; open borders; skyrocketing energy costs as we cave to the climate-change mafia; chaos in the Middle East as we favor Iran; and subservience to China.

If Republicans can win at least one of the Georgia Senate seats and maintain control of the Senate, they will have the opportunity to limit the Democrats’ damage until 2022, when the nation comes to its senses and elects a Republican House and Senate.

All we want for Christmas is a Republican Senate seat.
