ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A man accused of assaulting a hospital security guard last week has been charged with manslaughter following the guard’s death.

Richard Semo, 64, of Farmington, died Friday night from injuries sustained in an attack in the parking lot of Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Dec. 13.

Tyler Thurston, 29, of New Durham, initially was charged with second-degree assault. Prosecutors added the manslaughter charge Monday after meeting with Rochester police and the attorney general’s office, the Portsmouth Herald reported.

Rochester police Capt. Todd Pinkham said investigators do not know what led to the assault. Thurston is accused of punching Semo in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head.

It was unknown Monday whether Thurston has an attorney.
