OPINION:
Programmers all over America are fully aware of how easy it is to manipulate data once that data is in “the pipeline.” At any point along the way, data can be captured and held in storage, where it can then be passed along — intact, altered or simply deleted. (By the way, there is always a data trail, even if one was not provided for intentionally.)
A single vote could be split into pieces, rounded and then passed to its destination to be counted. In fact, once data has been input, it can be shaped into any result desired. “Losing” then becomes a desired result rather than the will of the people.
The public needs to know that dependence on a computer for things like voting will always lead to fraud. Always.
