KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Authorities are searching for a man who shot a Kansas City, Kansas, police officer in the arm and then fled.
The shooting was reported Thursday afternoon in Overland Park.
Investigators had been searching for the suspect most of the day Tuesday after he was involved in at least one hit-and-run in Wyandotte County, KMBC-TV reported.
When the officer saw the suspect driving near the Johnson County border, the man stopped his vehicle, got out and opened fire, Kansas City, Kansas, police spokeswoman Nancy Chartrand said.
The officer returned fire. It was not clear if the suspect was hit before he fled.
The officer was hit in the arm and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
