RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 27-year-old Reno man convicted of second-degree murder in the killing of a homeless woman last year has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Jessie Bailey was also sentenced to an additional 20 years for a use of a deadly weapon in the death of 47-year-old Andrea Faulkner.

The judge ordered him to serve the sentences consecutive. He’ll be eligible for parole after serving at least 10 years in prison on the first count and seven years on the second.

Prosecutors say Bailey shot Faulkner with a handgun on May 5, 2019. Her body was found a few blocks west of downtown Reno near West Third and Vine Street.

Officials arrested Bailey after they found the gun and clothing and his residence that was consisten with information they obtained from security videos. A ballistic test confirmed the gun matched a shell casing found at the scene of the crime.
