BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) - A police officer and a man involved in a domestic disturbance call were wounded in a shootout late Friday in Minnesota, police said.
Two Brooklyn Park police officers found the man in a vehicle outside a home where they were responding to the disturbance, the department said in a statement early Saturday.
The man and the officers exchanged gunfire, injuring one officer. The suspect ran away but was caught after a search. Police said that’s when authorities discovered the man was also wounded.
Both injuries are not life-threatening, police said. The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment. News outlets reported Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson said the officer’s condition was stable.
Neither the suspect nor the officers was immediately identified. Police said a news conference would be held Saturday morning.
Brooklyn Park is a city about 10 miles (16 kilometers) northwest of Minneapolis.
