WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting inside a northeast Wichita home, and investigators there have taken another teen suspected of pulling the trigger into custody, police said.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Arriving first responders found the 14-year-old with a gunshot wound to his chest. The boy, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital with a serious injury that was not believed to be life-threatening, police said Thursday in a news release.
Police said at least five other people were in the home when the shooting occurred and that the shooter and the victim knew each other. Investigators believe the shooting was accidental, but note that a lack of cooperation with police by the witnesses has hampered the investigation.
