O’FALLON, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri teenager pleaded not guilty Tuesday in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy in May.

Dylan J. Woolbright, 17, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the Oct. 9 shooting of Owen Fielder, who died three days later.

Prosecutors allege Woolbright shot Fielder in the face while they were looking at a gun at a home in O’Fallon, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

A juvenile witness told police Woolbright asked Fielder if he wanted to see his 9mm pistol, according to charging documents.

Court documents say the witness told police Woolbright “operated the slide and pulled the trigger,’ shooting Fielder in the face.

The charges said Woolbright originally lied to police when he claimed the gun discharged when it slipped from his hand.

Woolbright was certified in August to be tried as an adult, in part because of his record of offenses in the juvenile court system.
