NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man used a stolen handgun during what police described as a road rage incident, state police said Thursday.

South Kingstown Police advised area law enforcement agencies at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday that they were investigating a road rage incident where a firearm was brandished by an occupant of a car.

North Kingstown and state police stopped the suspect in North Kingstown and in the course of the investigation, locating a stolen 9mm handgun in the vehicle, state police said.



Tariq Famogun, 21, of Providence, faces several charges including carrying a stolen firearm when committing a crime of violence and possession of a stolen firearm.

Famogun was held on $25,000 bond at his arraignment Thursday. He did not enter a plea and was referred to the public defender’s office.
