TOLLESON, Ariz. (AP) - Two children were killed in a car accident Thursday near Tolleson, west of Phoenix, after the driver of a pickup truck allegedly ran a stop sign, authorities said.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s officials said the pickup truck crashed into a sedan that was carrying a woman and her two children, ages 10 and 12.

They said both children died in the crash and the mother was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

The names and genders of the children weren’t immediately released and neither were the names of the two drivers.

Sheriff’s officials said the truck driver was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

They said neither driver appeared to be impaired, but the crash was under investigation.
