OPINION:
Democrats and liberals are pushing for virtual health care and virtual education, and with the help of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, preventing members of religious groups from praying together. These are three areas in which face-to-face contact is essential. Physicians must physically examine their patients; students are best educated and best get to know each other in-person; and people have the right to assemble and express their religious beliefs. These are too important to be set aside, even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The deaths caused by not allowing physician evaluation, diagnostic and surgical procedures and other treatments could (and should) have been prevented. Reopening schools will get students back on track, preparing them for future professions and trades. Being in class with students of other races, ethnicities and religions can help close the current racial and religious divides. Most important is to remove any teacher political or religious bias in the classroom, or the divide will only increase.
Our Constitution is strong on freedom of religion. Every individual’s choice in attending religious services at a church, synagogue or mosque must be respected.
