TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Tucson fatally shot a 17-year-old boy after trying to arrest him during an undercover drug buy.
The shooting happened Wednesday in Tucson’s south side after an undercover officer purchased drugs from the teenager and nearby officers tried to arrest him.
The boy ran away and brandished a handgun before an officer fired two shots, striking the boy both times, according to police.
Police say the boy was wanted on felony charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
His family has requested time to seek a court order to stop the release of police body-warn video that captured the shooting, according to Tucson police.
