TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gas prices remained unchanged in New Jersey as they ticked up on average around the nation, but analysts say prices may have reached their peak for the year excluding any disruptions due to major storms.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $2.16, unchanged from the week before. Drivers were paying $2.67 a gallon at this time last year.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $2.18, a penny more than the previous week. The national average was $2.60 at this time a year ago.

Analysts say concerns over employment numbers and the spread of the COVID-19 virus continue to keep prices for both gas and oil down.
