PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - A former nursing home custodian pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting an 86-year-old resident of the home, authorities said.

Hugh D. McIntyre, 70, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple sexual assault and was sentenced to one year of confinement with the recommendation that he serve it at his home, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office announced Thursday.

The attorney general’s office prosecutes cases involving mistreatment or abuse by health care workers.

Another employee of the nursing home first reported the allegations that McIntyre touched the breasts of a resident in the memory care part of the facility, the Portsmouth Herald reported.

There was no phone listing for McIntyre and it was unclear if he has a lawyer.
