I noted Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s recent comment about urging state lawmakers to legalize marijuana because marijuana-related arrests are disproportionately of Black people.

If that is his recipe for success, why stop there? Why don’t we legalize bank robbery, dangerous speeding of cars and a host of other offenses as a way to stop those arrests? I have a better idea. Why not tell people to stop buying and using any kind of drugs. Then the arrests will stop.

Only a politician, looking to pander to their base, would think the abolition of a law would be a good solution to law-breaking.
