COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (AP) - A police officer was involved in a shooting that wounded a drug suspect following a struggle in a township near the city, Cincinnati’s police chief told reporters Tuesday.
Chief Eliot Isaac said Cincinnati officers observed the suspect, a man in his 20s, in suspected drug sales just before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and followed him into Colerain Township.
Township officers stopped the suspect and he exited the vehicle but a struggle ensued, and a stun device was used and one shot was fired, Isaac said. The suspect was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was in surgery and was reported in stable condition, he said.
An officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, and there will also be a review by the prosecutor’s officer and a citizen’s complaint authority, Isaac said.
