HARTFORD, Vt. (AP) - The town of Hartford is moving forward with its $3.3 million pool project after officials considered whether to postpone the effort so that staff could focus on response to the outbreak of the new coronavirus.

The Selectboard decided this week to continue with design and engineering work, the Valley News reported.

Hartford Recreation Director Scott Hausler wrote in a March 24 letter that, “No time is more important than now for our local parks, trails, open spaces and public facilities.”

He said that recreation staff are planning for the end of Vermont’s COVID-19 state of emergency, including planning for projects like the pool.

Construction is scheduled for next year with the pool slated to open in June 2022.
