MIAMI (AP) - A man wanted for murder in South Carolina was arrested in Florida Thursday morning, authorities said.

Corey Jermaine Troupe, 49, was taken into custody by police in Dade County, Florida, news outlets reported.

Troupe had a warrant out for his arrest in York County, South Carolina for the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Tony J. Stephens, County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said.

Stephens was found dead near an intersection in a rural area of the county outside Rock Hill, authorities said.

Details about the shooting or the relationship between Troupe and Stephens weren’t immediately released.

Faris said Troupe cannot be served the murder warrant until he is back in South Carolina but he can be held in Florida jail through the extradition process. Faris said Troupe is originally from the Miami area.

It’s unclear whether Troupe will waive extradition. It’s also unclear whether Troupe had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
