FOREST LAKES, Ariz. (AP) - A Phoenix woman reported missing last week has been found dead in north-central Arizona, authorities said Thursday.

Coconino County Sheriff’s officials said the body of 28-year-old Britney Fairbanks was located last Saturday in the Forest Lakes area near Payson.

They said deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle located by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

The vehicle was associated with Fairbanks, who was reported missing to Phoenix police on April 22.

A search began and crews found foot tracks and discarded clothing in the area before the body was discovered.

Sheriff’s officials didn’t disclose whether the woman’s disappearance and death are considered suspicious, saying only that the case is under investigation.

They said the cause of Fairbank’s death will be determined by the county Office of the Medical Examiner.
